Chapter Activities

The support of veterans and military families is an important project for our DAR chapter. Regular contributions are made to the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and to the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, CA. Items collected and distributed are: gift cards, magazines, snacks, toiletries, socks, and other clothing items.

We also focus on our local schools through a robust American history program that culminates each spring at our annual awards ceremony. We welcome students, parents, and school faculty to participate in the presentation of awards for the national American History Essay Contest, the DAR Good Citizens, Excellence in Citizenship, and awards to Junior American Citizens. Our Colonel William Cabell scholarship is presented each year to a graduating senior from our local school district.

Genealogy Classes and Membership Information

Our chapter is fortunate to be located near the Huntington Beach Public Library, home to the Orange County California Genealogical Society and the O.C.C.G.S. Historical Library. We will be partnering with the Society to hold genealogy classes soon. If you would be interested in joining us for one of these informative and interesting classes, or if you just want more information about them, please contact our registrar.
